August 8, 2020 – January 31, 2021 is the exhibition of the Knitters’ Copy Club in the participation hall of the Estonian National Museum “Our everyday knitting circle. The world’s greatest Muhu stocking exhibition”.
Between the covers of the catalog published by Saara Publishing House, there is a small overview of what Muhu stockings are and how to knit them. Also there are photos of all 84 stockings on display with a small introduction of the knitters.
A few years ago, at the Knitters’ Reproduction Club, almost a hundred women decided to take up the challenge – to knit genuine Muhu stockings by St John´s Day. Yes, they are knitted at an ultra-fine gauge , they are brightly colored and they have gorgeous patterns. It takes a lot of time to knit such stockings, but the beautiful pair of stockings gives the knitter a nice feeling – I was able to do it.
