Description
This Lithuanian-produced, 2-ply 100% wool carded yarn is well-suited for making Estonian ethnographic items. It is perfect for knitting mittens, gloves, sweaters, stockings, and socks. It is also highly suitable for braiding garter bands. If needed, it can be knitted together with HEA 7/2, 8/2, and Vanamoeline (Vintage) yarns.
The yarn is even, slightly stiffer than Estonian 8/2, coarser than HEA 7/2 and Vanamoeline yarn, and has a looser twist than Vanamoeline yarn, which means it may wear out slightly faster on the soles of feet.
The yarn comes in large 100-gram skeins (hanks). Therefore, one skein is enough for a pair of solid-colored mittens, and two skeins will yield at least two pairs of patterned mittens (stranded colorwork).
In addition to hand knitting, it is also used for machine knitting on manual knitting machines.
We recommend using needle sizes US 0000 to 0 (1.25 mm to 2 mm).
