The book’s publisher, the Estonian Swedes’ Cultural Self-Government, has involved nine authors in writing the book, all of whom are true experts in coastal Swedish culture and folk costumes. Over the years, the authors have researched clothing and traditions for the book in addition to our museums, also in Finnish and Swedish museums, met many coastal Swedes, studied clothing and archival materials, and tried to understand not only the clothing, but also the dignity of their wearers, their everyday lives and holidays. 440 pages of the beauty of folk costumes unfold before readers in the form of colorful images, old photographs, fascinating facts and stories.
